Located in the town of Tay Ninh, approximately 100 km northwest of Ho Chi Minh City, the Cao Dai Temple is the main center of Caodaism, an intriguing and colorful indigenous religion mixing Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism and Roman Catholicism and venerating western icons like Victor Hugo, William Shakespeare and Joan of Arc.
The Cao Dai religion is a hybrid of Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism and Christianity.
After lunch at a local restaurant, we will drive to visit Trang Bang, the hometown of Kim Phuc, famously, “The Girl in The Picture”—the 9-year-old child hit by napalm whose image was featured in 1972 issue of Life Magazine. Walking the highway where the photo was taken and visiting the adjacent Cao Dai Temple, where her family hid during bombing raids gives our groups an unforgettable behind the-scenes experience.
