We will drive 15 km east from Hanoi to Bat Trang Village, very famous for its fine ceramics. On arrival, you will be able to stroll in the small alleys of this old village stopping to watch the local people crafting their products. We will visit some of the houses used as workshops and showrooms, marveling at the selection of ceramic items rich in varieties and styles. After Bat Trang Village, we will drive to Dong Ho, a village famous for its traditional folk paintings. Each painting is printed by hand using an ancient technique and all of the materials used come naturally from the local plant life. Here, you will spend time in an artist’s house to learn about the creative process.
You will have lunch before visiting But Thap, one of the oldest pagodas in Vietnam and known as Vietnam’s first Buddhist Center. This pagoda is famous for its stunning woodcarvings and sculptures. These valuable objects are considered to be masterpieces of 17th century woodcarving, especially the statue of Tay Thien Dong and the statue of Buddha with thousand hands and thousand eyes. We will then return to Hanoi.
