Overview

This half-day private tour provides a practical, hands-on cooking experience with a local chef. Starting with an ingredient-shopping trip, you will learn about essential Vietnamese ingredients, traditional kitchen tools, and classic cooking techniques. The session covers factual culinary history, local dining etiquette, and chopstick skills, finishing with the meal you cooked.

Itinerary

  • Pick-up: 8:00 AM (at your hotel)

  • Drop-off: ~12:00 PM

Ben Thanh Market Visit: Transfer from your hotel to Ben Thanh Market to meet your chef. Walk through the busy stalls to collect fresh ingredients for your dishes. You will learn how locals select daily herbs, vegetables, proteins, and regional spices.

Kitchen Tools & Culinary History: Proceed to the cooking class venue. The chef will introduce you to traditional Vietnamese kitchen utensils used in the past. You will also get a straightforward overview of Vietnamese cuisine’s history, tracing its roots from Hue Citadel Imperial Cuisine to the practical impacts of various Western and Eastern cultures.

Hands-on Cooking Session: Prepare and cook authentic Vietnamese dishes under the chef’s step-by-step guidance. You will practice local preparation methods, such as proper marination, wrapping, or balancing sweet and savory flavors.

Dining Etiquette & Lunch: Learn the intricacies of Vietnamese dining etiquette and the proper technique to master chopsticks. Finally, sit down to enjoy the meal you have just created in a comfortable dining area.
