NORTHERN VIETNAM: HANOI, HALONG BAY, SAPA, CAO BANG, HA GIANG

The north has four seasons with a cold winter and hot summer. It’s around 5˚C (41˚F) in winter and up to 35˚C (95˚F) in summer.

*April – October: warm and humid at around 31˚C (90˚F) and heaviest rainfall between July and August 

*November – March: cold, average temperature is 20˚C (68˚F).  In the mountainous regions such as Sapa, the temperature can drop below zero (32˚F).

The loveliest time to visit North of Vietnam is from September to December

CENTRAL VIETNAM: HUE, DANANG, HOI AN

The average high temperature is 30˚C (86˚F).

*October – November: heavy storms and highest amount of rainfall and prone to flooding.

The loveliest time to visit North of Vietnam is from February to August. 

SOUTHERN VIETNAM: SAIGON, MEKONG DELTA, DALAT, BUON MA THUOT

There are only dry and rainy season in Southern.

*June – October: heaviest rainy with 80% average humidity at round 32˚C (90˚F).

-The Dalat – highland town: year-round temperate of 18˚C to 21˚C (64˚F to 70˚F), known as “City of Eternal Spring”. 

-Beach destinations, the rainy season varies for each destination: Nha Trang (October to December); Phan Thiet (July to November); and Phu Quoc (May to October).

 

Getting around Vietnam

By far, the best way to experience Vietnam is by motorbike.

Motorbikes can be rented from almost anywhere, including travel agencies, hotels or even some coffee shops in city center. The approximate costs per day without a driver are between $5 ~ $10 per day. National driving license will be granted a Vietnamese license.
