Day 2 – Luang Prabang City Tour & Kuang Si Waterfall (B)

After breakfast, begin your discovery of Luang Prabang’s royal and spiritual heritage at the Royal Palace Museum, built in 1904 during the French colonial era for King Sisavang Vong and his family.

Next, journey south for about an hour to one of Luang Prabang’s most picturesque natural sites — Kuang Si Waterfall. A gentle walk through shaded forest leads you to turquoise cascades tumbling into tiered pools — perfect for a refreshing swim or simply relaxing amid nature. You’ll also visit the nearby Bear Rescue Center, a sanctuary for endangered Asiatic black bears.

On your way back to town, stop at Ban Thapene, a tranquil Khmu ethnic village known for its beautiful natural pools at the foot of the falls.

Back in Luang Prabang, continue your exploration at Wat Sene and the splendid Wat Xieng Thong, one of the most exquisite examples of traditional Lao temple architecture. Its golden faƧade and intricate ā€œTree of Lifeā€ mosaic make it a true masterpiece.

Visit the ancient Wat Visoun (Wat Wisunarat), home to the city’s oldest stupa, before heading to Wat Phra Bat Tai in the late afternoon to watch the sun set over the Mekong River — a serene and memorable moment.

Your day ends at the Luang Prabang Night Market, where local artisans and hilltribe people sell handwoven textiles, jewelry, and crafts — a perfect place to find a meaningful souvenir and experience the local rhythm of evening life.

Day 3 – Luang Prabang – Nong Khiaw (B,L)

Depart after breakfast for Ban Lae Sivilay, a small Lao–Hmong village nestled along the banks of the Nam Xuang River — a gentle tributary of the Mekong. About 30 kilometers from Luang Prabang, this charming rural community offers a glimpse of traditional Laotian life surrounded by lush greenery and quiet simplicity.

Take a walk through the village orchards, where the air is filled with the scent of ripe fruit — bananas, oranges, lemons, grapefruits, rambutans, sapodillas, and pineapples — all grown for the markets of Luang Prabang. Meet local families tending their gardens and learn about their seasonal harvests.

Later, step aboard a canoe for a calm ride along the Nam Xuang River. Glide past bamboo groves and riverside homes, watching villagers fish, wash clothes, or paddle to nearby fields — a serene window into everyday rural life.

By late afternoon, continue your journey north to Nong Khiaw, a tranquil riverside town framed by dramatic karst mountains and dense jungle. The final stretch of the drive reveals some of northern Laos’ most breathtaking scenery — misty peaks and emerald waters reflecting the setting sun.

You’ll continue past Muang Ngoi to visit Ban Sop Jam, a peaceful village renowned for its traditional Lao silk and cotton weaving. Watch the rhythmic movement of the looms and admire the artistry of handmade textiles — vibrant scarves and fabrics that reflect the colors of northern Laos.

After exploring the village, return downstream to Muang Ngoi, where you can pause for a cup of Lao coffee overlooking the river before setting off on a gentle trek through the countryside. The path winds past rice paddies, limestone cliffs, and lush green valleys — the kind of scenery that feels timeless.
