Overview

This 2-day Mekong Delta Small Group Tour covers the primary agricultural and commercial hubs of the Mekong Delta: Cai Be, Vinh Long, and Can Tho. The itinerary focuses on practical daily life on the water, featuring the large-scale Cai Rang floating market, local manufacturing workshops, and regional orchards. Activities include navigating the river on both motorized and hand-rowed boats, exploring rural villages by bicycle or on foot, and visiting a regional Khmer pagoda.

Itinerary

Day 1 – Sai Gon - Cai Be - Vinh Long - Can Tho (L)

7:30 AM – 8:00 AM: Pick up at your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City and depart for Cai Be.

Morning Boat Ride: Upon arrival, board a motorized boat to navigate the local waterways and observe the riverbank commerce.

Local Workshops: Visit a small family business to watch the step-by-step manual production of coconut candy and popped rice.

Sampan Ride: Transfer to a smaller, hand-rowed wooden sampan to travel through narrower, shaded water palm canals.

Lunch: Eat a regional lunch in a local garden setting, accompanied by fresh seasonal fruits.

Vinh Long Pottery Kiln: Cruise toward Vinh Long to tour a local pottery kiln factory. You will see the massive, dome-shaped red brick structures and observe the tactile, manual process of shaping and firing clay products.

Afternoon Transfer: Proceed by road to Can Tho. Check into your accommodation and spend the night in Can Tho.

Day 2 – Can Tho - Cai Rang Floating Market (B, L)

Early Morning: Pick-up from your accommodation to board a boat cruising along the Mekong River.

Cai Rang Floating Market: Arrive at the largest floating market in the region. Watch local merchants trade wholesale agricultural goods directly from boat to boat, identifying their products via items hung on tall wooden poles.

Village Exploration: Navigate up a quieter canal to access a rural area. You can choose to take a short bike ride along countryside paths (passing paddy fields and traditional monkey bridges) OR walk through local farms and houses to see tropical fruit orchards.

Local Encounter: Pause to drink a cup of tea and taste local snacks with friendly residents.

Pagoda Visit & Lunch: Drive to visit a prominent local Khmer pagoda, featuring distinct Theravada Buddhist architecture. Afterward, sit down for lunch at a local restaurant.

Return: Drive back to Ho Chi Minh City.

~16:00 PM: Drop-off at your hotel.

Drop off hotel: About 16.00
