Overview

Journey to Long Tan and Nui Dat for a meaningful look into Australia–Vietnam wartime history. Visit key memorials, explore former military sites, and walk through the Long Phuoc tunnels. A reflective day trip that connects past and present, offering insight, context, and quiet moments of remembrance.

Itinerary

Pick-up: 8:00AM | Drop-off: ~16:00PM

Located in Ba Ria City, around 110 kilometers east of Ho Chi Minh City, Long Tan Cross marks the site of the Battle of Long Tan–one of the most intense and defining moments for Austra- lian forces during the Vietnam War.

Your journey begins with a two–hour drive from Ho Chi Minh city. Upon arrival, you will visit several key sites, starting with the Long Tan Cross, a tribute erected by the 6RAR (Royal Australian Regiment) to commemorate the fallen. Next, explore the Horseshoe, a former fire support base, followed by the Long Phuoc Tunnels–once used by Viet Cong fighters and a crucial element of their local resistance.

Enjoy a relaxing lunch at a local Vietnamese restaurant, where you’ll have time to reflect and recharge. In the afternoon, the tour continues to Nui Dat (SAS Hill), the former base of the Australian Task Force.

While much of the original base has now been overtaken by local development, you can still see remnants of its past, including the former helicopter landing pad and parts of the original roadways.

Important Note: Passports may be required for registration at certain checkpoints.
